Pandemic Boredom Buster

Fairy Houses From Your Yard

The weather is getting nice, and quarantine bored kids are looking for something to do. As it turns out, this is a project that's fun for parents or grandparents and kids alike. Materials required include imagination, fairy magic, and parts and pieces found right in your own yard.

Look around your yard for a flat foundation for your fairy house. Don't forget to watch for natural houses, like spaces in tree trunks.

Dollar store craft sticks can be used to frame your house, then twigs, leaves and bark can cover the walls and roof. Then imaginations begin to soar as you search for items to make pathways, ponds, swings, benches, fire pits or any of a million things for your fairies.

The best part is, this can be an on-going project that you can build on throughout the summer. Either keep your fairy house in a protected area, or spray it with varnish or sealant to protect it from the weather.

I haven't met a child yet who doesn't delight in magical, miniature worlds and fairies. What a great way to spend time together making memories!
